The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Cumberland Plateau are headquartered in Oneida, Tenn. Our club is located just a few miles from the beautiful Big South Fork National River & Recreation Area, a 125,000-acre national park that is the crown jewel of the Cumberland Plateau.

Sunday's 13-mile Backcountry Half-marathon will start at the Boys & Girls Club and take runners through some of the most beautiful terrain the Big South Fork NRRA has to offer — through the deep gorge that is often referred to as the Little Grand Canyon of the East, along roaring mountain streams and along old railroad grades from the days when coal and timber were king in our area over 100 years ago.

The 5K and 10K races on Saturday will begin and end at the Big South Fork Airpark Stables on O&W Rd.

Bring your family along even if they aren't participating in the event! You will enjoy the scenery of the Big South Fork before and after the race. Families wishing to extend their stay and make a long weekend of the event will find many available recreational opportunities available both in the Big South Fork (hiking, exploring and more) and around Oneida (golf, picnicking). For more on the BSF and our local area, see DiscoverScott.com.
